Growing up in rural Jackson Parish, Doug’s family instilled the values that helped him become the person he is today. Through hard work, education and a great investment of time, Doug has become a leader in his industry and a valuable member of his community.
Hearing the call to serve, Doug knew it was time to dedicate himself to a higher cause and become a public servant. Unlike other decisions in his past, Doug describes it as a calling to do what was right.

Together with his family, the decision was made to take this journey to the next phase. It is through faith and a love for his community that Doug Harvey now moves ahead and asks for your support. This is not just Doug’s journey, as we are with him. Together we can make a better tomorrow for our children, grandchildren and the rest of our community.
Family Life
Raised in a small town and attending public schools, Doug developed a diverse view of the world. He was raised primarily by his grandparents and he learned the value of being involved in his community, a good education and financial responsibility. His family includes his wife Jodi and two children: Katelyn, 15 and Connor, 13.
A Love for Education
Beginning his educational career, Doug was a standout student. He was known for his love for reading that has continued on to this day. He started to develop what would become a life-long love affair with learning and reading. Doug went on to graduate with both a bachelors and masters degree from Louisiana Tech University. He continues to read a book a week on a myriad of topics and attends various meetings and conferences throughout the year.

Career Success
Doug currently serves as the Plant Manager for Drax Biomass’s LaSalle site in Urania, LA. He directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities. He has previously supported the maintenance and reliability functions of paperboard and converting facilities and is a Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) and Certified Reliability Leader (CRL). His work experience spans hands-on, entry level millwright tasks to direct supervision, planning and execution of large scale outages. He has supported multiple manufacturing operations in north Louisiana during his career. Doug was also the owner of a start-up timing company based in north Louisiana until it’s successful sale in late 2015.
Community Activities and Giving Back
Doug volunteers his time with multiple groups in the Monroe area. He is an active volunteer with the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank, Friends of Forsythe Park, Ainsley’s Angels, and the Ouachita Valley Road Runners. He also serves on the board for the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Louisiana and Louisiana Catalyst, a small business incubator based in downtown Monroe.
He is a current member of USA Triathlon and has served as a certified race director, member of the regional council, and coordinator of officials in the Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas region. Endurance athletics are a passion of his as he participated in road running events up to the marathon distance as well as triathlons.
He enjoys traveling with family and friends and has been fortunate enough to travel to 18 different countries. It his belief that not many things have changed his life as seeing different parts of the world and the different cultures you find there.
