I’m Doug Harvey. Born and raised in Jonesboro, in Jackson Parish, and I’ve spent my life in north Louisiana. I own The UPS Store in West Monroe and Ruston, serve north Monroe on the City Council, and work to build the kind of community my family is glad to call home.
I’m married to Jennifer. Between us we have five kids and one grandchild, which keeps the rest of life in perspective.
Before the stores, I spent a career in manufacturing across north Louisiana, learning how things actually get built and how to lead the people who build them. I studied at Louisiana Tech, where I earned a bachelor’s and an M.B.A. What I learned in manufacturing is the same thing that makes a good council member: understand the operation, and fix the real problem instead of the easy one.
A package on my counter or a pothole in my district, people deserve a straight answer and a real fix.
I have the degrees, and I still believe the trades and two-year programs are the surest path to a good life here.
Most problems don’t need ideology. They need someone competent who will do the work.
I consult with Black Pine, an environmental and workplace-safety firm serving the Gulf South. We help contractors and facility teams identify hazards like asbestos and lead through certified testing and inspection, so they get clear data and stay compliant.
I opened in West Monroe in 2021 and added a Ruston location in 2026. Shipping, packing, printing, mailboxes, notary, and the daily logistics area businesses count on.
Elected in 2020 to represent north Monroe, the Forsythe, River Oaks, and Garden District areas. My record and how to reach me on a city matter live on the council site.
The simplest way is email. Tell me what you need and I’ll get back to you.
